Citizens' CharterMinistry of Earth Sciences was established in the year 2006 by bringing the meterological agencies and ocean development department under one umbrella considering the importance of ocean atmosphere process for understanding the variability of earth. This charter is a declaration of MoES vision, mission, values, and standards and commitment to act in manner to achieve excellence for sustainable development and use of science and technology for the exploaration and exploitation of vast marine resource for the socio-economic benefit of the society by taking into account the global developments in the field of marine environment. VisionThe vision of MoES is to emerge as a knowledge and information technology enterprise for the Earth System Science (atomphere, hydrosphere, cryoshphere and geosphere) realm for the Indian subcontinet and ocean. MissionTo cover wide range of activities contributing to various social benefits in the areas of weather(general), weather advisiory specific to agriculture, shipping, sports, monsoon, disasters (cyclone,earthquake,tsunami,sea level rise),living and non-living resourses (fishery advisiories, poly-metallic nodules, gas hydrates etc.),coastal and marine ecosystem,climate change and providing drinking water to the population and Island of Lakshdeep UT through use ocean science and technology.
