A four-member delegation from the Department, NCAOR and NIOT participated in the Oceanology International’99 Pacific Ring Conference held at Singapore during 27-29, April, 1999.

The Project Director, ICMAM, Chennai participated in the meeting of the Third Coastal GOOS Panel meeting at Acra, China during 12-15, April, ’99 and the Fourth GOOS Panel meeting at Tianjin, China during 2-5, November, ’99. A draft strategic plan for talking the issues relating to the physical aspects of coastal areas, harmful algal blooms, capacity building for implementing GOOS programmes etc., was developed.

A Workshop on Trainers Training Programme on Integrated Coastal Zone Management was held at Newcastle, UK during 26th June – 16th July,’99. The PD- ICMAM participated in this Workshop, which has helped us in designing the requisite course module for various coastal related activities for integrated management.

A meeting of the National Coordinators of the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network was held at Colombo, Sri Lanka on 21st July, ’99 and again on 9-12th January, 2000 for planning the second phase activities of the Network. PD-ICMAM participated in these meetings.
